Are you starting to feel the effects of aging? Me too. It happens to all of us. But there are so many things we can do to help our bodies for the journey ahead with a smarter approach to fitness.

I've always been an active guy. Back when I was young, I lived for basketball and other sports! My desire to be my best at my favorite game gave me a great reason to keep my body in top condition. However, as I got older, those same workouts started doing more harm than good. My muscles got tighter, I was tired all the time, my hips, back, and shoulders ached, and I started having issues with balance because of weak ankles. I realized something needed to change. That's when I discovered yoga and functional fitness exercises. This new style of fitness worked so much better for my body. I liked this approach so much that I attended many training programs and then started sharing it with others. That's how the StayAhead Method got started!

My StayAhead Method recognizes that, as we age, our workouts need to change. Workouts must be challenging but safe and effective at the same time. Most important, our workouts must address the specific needs of the aging body. Yoga is very effective. But it misses some things. The StayAhead Method uses yoga principles but also fills in the gaps with other forms of exercise like resistance training and moderate cardio.

A body well cared for can remain strong and flexible. Retain your ability to breathe deeply, stand tall, and maintain stable balance.

Staying fit for your future doesn't happen on its own. You have to be willing to work at it. Most people aren't. Unfortunately they pay the consequences later in life. But it doesn't have to be that way. A smarter approach to fitness done consistently can help you age gracefully over the decades. After years of teaching fitness to thoustands of people, I know what works and what doesn't work. Your second half of life should be on an upward spiral of joy, fulfillment, and fun activites. Even though we're aging, we don't have to get old. Take care of your body and brain so that you can experience your best life. Join me on this journey. You'll be amazed at how great you can feel!

MY TRAINING

My training includes a master's degree in educational psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. Out of college I began working in the research department at Craig Hospital, one of the top spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation facilities in the world. It wasn't until several years later that I got into yoga. After falling in love with the practice, I completing a certification program to teach yoga. I'm also a certified stretch specialist and fitness educator. 22 years after my first yoga teacher training, I'm still going strong. I see private and corporate clients and I teach online at stayaheadfitness.com. The StayAhead Fitness online program is now accessed by people all over the world.
